problem with having to press " ' quotation key twice to get it to show up

After having some work done on my Dell laptop I had the problem of problem with having to press " ' quotation key twice to get it to show up. And then sometimes odd foreign symbols would appear instead of quotations or apostrophes.

I found a fix online after enough time of being annoyed by it.

1. control panel
2. regional and language settings
3. language tab
4. change from us  - international to us
5. remove the international option down below
6. click save
7. restart pc

and bam! problem i have been having for months is gone! thank goodness

Extra vertical space underneath forms

Often html forms will default to add space below the submit buttons. You must fix this with css. See below:

style='margin-bottom:0;'  add this to your form

ie

<form style='margin-bottom:0;'>dfsdfsddf</form>

How to remove index.php from Magento URLs using .htaccess

1) Login to admin section by using the URL http://domain.com/index.php/admin

2) then go to “System >> Configuration >>Web >> Search Engines Optimization”

Use Web Server Rewrites : YES

3) Go to “System >> Configuration >>Web >>Secure”

Use secure URL Frontend: YES (Optional)

4) Then create the .htaccess file under your the magento installed folder.

If the magento installed under document root ( /home/username/public_html) then add follogig rules into .htaccess file

RewriteBase /RewriteRule ^index\.php$ - [L]

and If the magento installed under /shop or directory then add the following rules into ” /home/username/public_html/shop/.htaccess ” file.
