Microsoft Access :: Speed up your Frontend Database

If you have two databases (frontend and backend) running on your network from your server you can speed up the database processes by loading a copy of the frontend database on your computer. Here are the steps:

  1. Create a folder called Access (or anything you like) under "MY DOCUMENTS"
  2. Copy the frontend database file to your Access folder in my documents from the server
  3. Create a shortcut to this file from your desktop
  4. Open the database file from your desktop
  5. Click External data
  6. Click Linked Table manager
  7. Click Select All, OK, and Close

Should be hunky dory at this point to access your Microsoft Office Access file from the desktop icon which will use your local file to connect to the remote backend on your server.
